Ellen Wertheim comes to the field of massage therapy with a life-long commitment to the healing arts and to creativity. Her massage practice richly integrated knowledge, skill, compassion, and life experience drawn from her many years as a medical technologist providing direct patient care and diagnostics, as an administrator in non-profit health and educational services, and in her ongoing work as a painter and textile designer (www.ellenwertheim-arts.com).
As Clinical Director of Oncology Massage at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan (http://www.jccmanhattan.org/health-wellness/fitness-wellness/cancer-care/) and in her private practice, Wertheim specialized in oncology massage. She offered a comprehensive understanding of conditions and care, and strong assessment skills and treatment to provide specific, safe practices necessary for people living with cancer. Her massage practice compassionately incorporated the needs of family, close friends and caregivers, as well as addressed care for her clients. (Oncology Massage) |
Fundamentally, Wertheim brought a collaborative and holistic approach to her work. Addressing the entire person--the physical, emotional, and spiritual--the traditions of Chinese Medicine informed the basis of her bodywork. Blending Eastern and Western understanding and modalities--5-Element Shiatsu, Tui Na (Chinese Massage), Swedish Massage, Reflexology Foot Massage and Polarity--Wertheim suitably adapted these to meet individual goals and needs.
